BOSTON - Today, U.S. Senator Scott Brown made available six years of federal and state income tax returns, covering the years 2006 through 2011, as requested by the media. For the most recent 2011 tax year, Brown and his wife, TV reporter Gail Huff, reported income of $510,856, and paid a quarter of that amount in taxes. Brown and Huff also contributed $16,487 to charity, or 3.2% of their total income.
The Brown family income is higher in 2010 and 2011 because of the advance Brown received from HarperCollins for his best-selling book, “Against All Odds,” which details his difficult childhood and obstacles he had to overcome in his life, including physical abuse in the home.
“Scott Brown’s willingness to disclose six years of tax return information, as requested by the media, is a stark contrast to Elizabeth Warren’s stonewalling,” said Brown’s campaign manager, Jim Barnett. “By refusing to release her tax returns for 2006 and 2007, she is clearly hiding something. What is in her tax returns during these years that Warren is so afraid voters might learn? In the interest of openness and transparency, Professor Warren has an obligation to release the same information that Scott Brown is making available.”
A summary table of Brown and Huff’s federal returns is available below. Members of the media wishing to review the complete tax returns should contact Colin Reed at colin@www.scottbrown.com.
