SENATOR BROWN COMPETES OFFICIAL US ARMY LEGAL ASSISTANCE COURSE
BOSTON, MA - Lieutenant Colonel Scott Brown, who is a member of the Army National Guard recently graduated from the United States Army Legal Assistance Course held at the Judge Advocate General’s School in Charlottesville, VA.
The intensive one week training included courses on The Servicemembers Civil Relief Act, Legal Assistance Management, Trust, Estates, Family Law issues, kidnapping and International Child and Family law, Re-Employment & Discrimination Rights of Soldiers, Military Appeals and Deployment Assistance.
“As the 26th Brigade Staff Judge Advocate in the Massachusetts Army National Guard, my participation in this training was critical, as I and those under my command must be up to date on the laws of war and the rights and responsibilities of those participating in conflicts throughout the world,” said Lt. Col. Brown.
The course was attended by legal personnel from all branches of the US military, as well as other civilian and governmental entities. Among them, Captain Jim Gettens from Sterling, MA who is presently serving at the 3rd LSO, Boston, MA and 1st Lieutenant Zack Spilman from South Natick, who is presently serving at the Marine Corp. Air Station, Cherry Point, NC.Lt. Col. Brown, who resides in Wrentham, is also the state Senator for the Norfolk, Bristol and Middlesex district. Due to his mandatory participation in this official course, Sen. Brown was forced to miss five votes on the senate floor.
