BROWN NAMED “FATHER OF THE YEAR”
BOSTON, MA – Journey Forward, a non-profit organization dedicated to bettering the lives of those with Spinal Cord Injuries will be honoring State Senator Scott Brown with a “Father of the Year” award for his well known and celebrated dedication to family and community. Brown will be officially recognized at the 1st Annual Father’s Day Forward fundraiser on Father’s Day, June 15th at Moseley’s on the Charles in Dedham.
Brown and his daughter Ayla, American Idol finalist and Boston College Basketball sensation, represent the spirit of Father’s Day by giving back to the community. They are both well known and respected for their countless hours in support of charitable causes.
“It is truly a great honor to be recognized by such an amazing organization as Journey Forward,” stated Sen. Brown.
Journey Forward gives hope to people with spinal cord injuries that they may one day live an independent life and possibly even walk again. Journey Forward maintains a special rehabilitation facility in Canton that uses the latest medical advances and equipment to assist clients of all abilities in an active and full body intensive exercise-based program.
The program was introduced to the Boston area by Dan and Jimmy Cummings. Dan, who has starred in several locally produced films including “Still We Believe,” the Boston Red Sox movie and the Farrelly Brothers’ movie “Fever Pitch,” was a quadriplegic before participating in the Journey Forward program. Jimmy is a filmmaker who wrote, produced and starred in the film “Southie” starring Donnie Wahlberg and Rose McGowan. He and Dan are currently writing a book and screenplay based on Dan’s accident and how their family rallied together to get Dan the care he needed to help him walk again.
