BROWN ANNOUNCES CHANGES TO ADOPTION LAWS

BOSTON, MA – Senator Scott Brown has announced that there have been recent changes made to the Commonwealth’s adoption laws, pertaining to information access. The new law will make it possible for certain adopted persons to obtain their birth certificate without a court order, which is current practice.

The original bill was filed by Rep. John Lepper (R-Attleboro) and was signed into law by Governor Deval Patrick on September 6, 2007.
